WeightManager — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 7 September 2026

WeightManager is an Android application published by FitEngineering. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: the app keeps your data on your device and I have no way to see it.

Who is responsible

The controller under Article 4(7) GDPR is:

Diego Antongirolami
Fürther Str. 8
90429 Nuremberg
Germany
Email: fitengineeringapps@gmail.com

What the app stores

The app stores the weight entries you record, the dates attached to them, and your unit, language and display preferences.

This data is written to your device's private application storage. It is not uploaded to any server of mine, and it is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data from Android settings.

Android Auto Backup

The app has Android's Auto Backup enabled. This means Android may copy the app's private storage — including your weight entries and settings — to your own Google Drive backup, so the data is restored when you reinstall the app or set up a new phone. This backup belongs to your Google account and is described in Google's privacy policy; I have no access to it. You can switch device backup off entirely under Android Settings → Google → Backup.

Health Connect

If you connect the app to Health Connect, it reads your existing weight records from Android's system-wide health database and writes new ones back to it, so your history stays consistent with other health apps you use. This exchange happens locally on your device between the app and Health Connect. It only happens after you explicitly grant the permissions, and you can revoke them at any time in the Health Connect app. The legal basis is your explicit consent under Article 9(2)(a) GDPR, since weight is health data.

CSV import and export

You can export your entries to a CSV file and import them again. The exported file is written to wherever you choose on your device or in your own cloud storage; from that point it is under your control, not mine.

What the app does not do

  • It does not ask you to create an account or provide an email address.
  • It does not operate or contact a FitEngineering server. No such server exists.
  • It does not sell your information, and your weight data is never shared with anyone.

The only information that leaves your device is the advertising data described under Google AdMob below, which is transmitted to Google. Google acts as an independent controller for it.

Third-party services

The app contains exactly three Google components: the Mobile Ads SDK, the User Messaging Platform consent form, and Play Billing. It contains no analytics SDK and no crash-reporting SDK — no Firebase Analytics, no Crashlytics, no third-party tracker of any kind.

Google AdMob

The free version of the app shows a banner advertisement at the bottom of the screen, supplied by Google AdMob. To select and measure ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may process your device's advertising identifier and app set ID, a coarse location derived from your IP address, information about your device, how you interact with the advertisement (views and taps), and technical performance data about the ad SDK such as load times and error rates. Google acts as an independent controller for this processing. Google's practices are described in the Google privacy policy, and you can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time under Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.

Your weight data is never passed to the advertising SDK.

In the EEA and the UK, the app asks for your consent before any ad is requested, using Google's User Messaging Platform (a Google-certified consent management platform). You can change that choice at any time from the ☰ menu → Privacy options. The legal basis is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.

Google Play Billing

The app offers a one-off in-app purchase that removes advertising permanently. Purchases are handled entirely by Google Play. I receive no payment details and no name or address — only an anonymised confirmation from Google Play that a purchase exists for that device's Google account. If you buy the ad-free version, the Google Mobile Ads SDK is never started at all: no advertising identifier, device information or usage data is collected for advertising, and the consent dialog is not shown.

Permissions

  • Internet and network state — used only to fetch advertisements and to verify your "remove ads" purchase with Google Play. Your weight data is never sent over the network by the app.
  • Advertising ID (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID) — required by the Google Mobile Ads SDK on Android 13 and later. It is not used once you have purchased the ad-free version or declined consent.
  • Health Connect: read and write weight, and read health data history — used only if you choose to connect Health Connect, so the app can import your existing weight records (including those older than 30 days) and keep new entries in sync. Nothing else in Health Connect is read.

The app requests no camera, microphone, contacts, location or file-system permissions.

Children

The app is not directed at children, and I do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The competent authority for Bavaria is the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA).

In practice, because your app data never leaves your device, I hold nothing about you to access or erase. You exercise these rights over your own data directly: delete a single entry or a whole day from the Delete dialog in the app, export everything to CSV for portability, or clear all data at once from Android Settings → Apps → WeightManager → Storage → Clear data. Records held in Health Connect are managed in the Health Connect app. If you have contacted me by email, that email is held as described in the website privacy notice.

Changes to this policy

If the app changes in a way that affects this policy, I will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes affecting existing users will also be noted in the app's release notes on Google Play.
